These are the Signs That Love Is Blind Marriage Experiment Doesn’t Work
The first couple from ‘Love Is Blind’, Iyanna McNeely and Jarrette Jones, have announced their divorce, demonstrating how drastically the marital experiment may fail. The couple startled fans when they announced their divorce in an Instagram joint statement. The couple cited their “different directions” as the reason for their split. But, given their rough start, there were indicators that they weren’t meant to be.
Jarrette and Iyanna, like the majority of participants, entered the marriage experiment hoping to discover love. Jarrette was split between his affections for Iyanna and Mallory Zapata. When Mallory turned down Jarrette’s proposal, he opted to rekindle his relationship with Iyanna. The decision prompted concerns about Jarrette’s readiness to participate in the trial. Some participants did not make it to the honeymoon since they were unable to locate a suitable match. Those who were unable to attend the group honeymoon vacation were phased out and received little to no camera time.
The couples who did had all eyes on them as they attempted to connect with someone to whom they were already engaged. The Love Is Blind marriage experiment is designed to test whether a couple can fall in love without knowing how the other appears. It is intended to foster mental and emotional bonds rather than physical couplings. However, after two seasons, people can observe the problems that develop when someone learns about their spouse’s appearance only after they are engaged. Several couples split up in Season 2, including Shaina Hurley and Kyle Abrams and Deepti Vampati and Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee.
Shake received backlash for his constant criticism of Deepti’s physical appearance. Shake embraced his villainous part and, by the reunion, accused the entire ensemble of being “false” in order to be positively accepted by viewers. He also claimed to just appear on the show to experience the benefits of celebrity. His revelations showed how certain people may use the show’s connections to achieve clout and success. Natalie Lee and Shayne Jansen, who called it quits the night before their wedding, were another season 2 pair to call it quits. Several couples split up in Season 1, including Giannina Gibelli and Damian Powers, Kelly Chase and Kenny Barnes, and Jessica Batten and Mark Cuevas. The number of heartbreaks caused by the show far outnumbers the number of successful couples. Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton have become show regulars and are still going strong. Amber Pike and Matt Barnett are another pair from Season 1 who are still together.
Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson have been the last surviving married pair since season 2. That puts the total number of couples who have survived the test of time to only three. Aside from the numerous breakups,
Love Is Blind is facing a lawsuit from a former cast member who claims the cast was denied water, given alcohol, and underpaid while filming. The lawsuit revealed some disturbing details regarding the show’s production and what may be going on behind the scenes to force relationships. On a blind date, people have been known to fall in love. However, even a blind date allows daters to see who they’re dating and if they want to proceed. Given that Love Is Blind is going through its first divorce, many people are wondering if the marriage experiment is genuine.
