Princess Beatrice, Prince Andrew and More Royals Unite at Balmoral After Queen Elizabeth’s Death

While King Charles III was being formally proclaimed the next British monarch in London, his siblings and their family congregated near Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where their mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died.

Her younger children, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, and Princess Anne, as well as numerous of her grandchildren, were photographed attending a private church ceremony across a river from their late mother’s most recent house on Sept. 10, two days after her death at the age of 96.

Andrew was joined by daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, Edward’s wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and daughter Lady Louise Windsor, and Anne’s husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and children Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, who were later spotted greeting a crowd of mourners outside Balmoral Castle and admiring large displays of flowers, gifts, and notes dedicated to the queen.

This was Andrew’s second public appearance since losing his royal duties earlier this year due to his association with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He was last seen in March during a memorial service for his late father and the queen’s husband, Prince Philip, who died last year at the age of 99.

As the family members arrived in Balmoral, their older brother, King Charles III, 73, took his oath as the new monarch before an Accession Council at St James’s Palace in London. His wife, Camilla, Queen Consort, his son and heir, Prince William, and Britain’s new prime minister, Liz Truss, who signed the proclamation of his accession, were all members of the council.
