Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie Break Their Silence After Grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s Death

It’s an unbreakable relationship. Following the passing of their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie have spoken out.

Eugenie, 32, and Beatrice, 34, posted a letter to their “dearest Grannie” on Instagram on Saturday, September 17:

We haven’t been able to express ourselves very well since you left us all. There have been tears and laughter, silences and talk, embraces and loneliness, and a general sense of loss for you, our dear Queen and Grannie.

We, like many others, assumed you’d be here indefinitely. And we all miss you very much.

You were our matriarch, our guide, and our loving hand on our backs as we navigated this world. You taught us so much, and we will treasure those teachings and memories for the rest of our lives.

For the time being, dear Grannie, all we can say is thank you. Thank you for making us laugh, including us, harvesting heather and raspberries, marching troops, our teas, comfort, and delight. You will never know the influence you have had on our family and so many individuals around the world because you are you.

The world mourns for you, and the tributes would make you happy. They are all too true of the exceptional leader that you are.

We’re overjoyed that you’re back with Grandpa. Goodbye, dear Grannie; it has been the privilege of our lives to be your granddaughters, and we are so proud of you.

We know that loving Uncle Charles, the King, will follow in your footsteps, having committed his life to service as well.

God help the King.

With our hearts,

Eugenie and Beatrice

The message was posted alongside a photo of the princesses as tiny girls with the monarch, just hours before the queen’s grandchildren stand vigil outside Westminster Hall on Saturday. Beatrice and Eugenie will join Prince William and Prince Harry for 15 minutes, as will Princess Anne’s children, Zara Tindall and Peter Philips, and Prince Edward’s children, Lady Louise Windsor and Viscount Severn. The grandkids are also scheduled to attend the state funeral on Monday, September 19.

On Thursday, September 8, Buckingham Palace confirmed that “the Queen died quietly at Balmoral this afternoon.” “The King [Charles] and Queen Consort will spend the evening in Balmoral before returning to London tomorrow.”

The queen died shortly after celebrating her Platinum Jubilee in June. Her Majesty was feted for her 70 years in the British monarchy with a four-day celebration beginning with Trooping the Colour. Following her attendance at the ceremony, which she watched from the balcony of Buckingham Palace, Us Weekly announced that the queen will not attend the Service of Thanksgiving the following day due to “discomfort.” She did, however, make a surprise appearance after the Jubilee Pageant ended.

The queen had a series of health concerns shortly after her Platinum Jubilee. Instead of returning to Windsor Castle, Elizabeth elected to stay in Scotland in September to formally appoint Britain’s new prime minister, Liz Truss. Buckingham Palace revealed later that month that Her Majesty’s medical staff was concerned about her health.

“Following additional examination this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have suggested that she stay under medical observation,” the statement said on September 8. “The Queen is still at home and at Balmoral.”

It was claimed at the time that Prince William, Prince Charles, and Duchess Camilla were on their way to Scotland to be at Elizabeth’s side. A spokeswoman for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed that they were also going.

Beatrice and Eugenie, the Monarch’s grandchildren and the daughters of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, were exceptionally close to their grandmother. The daughters grew up accompanying the royal grandmother on family vacations to her favorite Scottish home, Balmoral and carried on the practice into adulthood.

“I believe Granny is the happiest there; I think she really, truly loves the Highlands,” Eugenie, 32, said in ITV’s Our Queen at 90 programs in 2016.

In the same film, the younger princess stated that she has always considered her grandma to be a fashion icon. “A lot of my friends tell me, ‘Oh, she’s simply the best style person there is, you know, she looks beautiful in her outfits,'” she explained. “She has a distinct style.”

Eugenie went on to characterize her late grandmother’s style as “beautiful” and “traditional,” a view shared by her sister.

Beatrice, 34, married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July 2020, wearing an antique gown designed by her grandmother and the same tiara that the queen wore on her wedding day in 1947. In September 2021, the couple welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, and named her Elizabeth.

“Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi,” the Italian exclaimed on Instagram a few weeks after his daughter was born. “Our journey together has just begun, and I can’t wait to see what fantastic things await us.”

The royal family grieved the death of Prince Philip at the age of 99 in April 2021. Eugenie vowed to look after the queen at the time. That same month, she posted on Instagram, “Dear Grandpa.” “Thank you for your devotion and affection for all of us, especially Granny, whom we will care for.”
