Mandy Moore is getting ready to give birth to her second child later this year without any painkillers.

The This Is Us star, 38, was diagnosed with immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), and stated in an interview with Today Parents that her platelets were “too low for an epidural.”

Moore’s oldest son August “Gus,” who is now 17 months old, was born naturally due to her autoimmune disorder, which is characterized by a drop in the blood’s platelet count.

“It was terrible. But I’m capable of doing it again.

I can ascend that mountain once more,” Moore went on.

“Just the thought of having medication as an option on the table makes me wish it were an option.

But we’ll just keep moving forward as we did before.”

The Princess Diaries actress and husband Taylor Goldsmith, who tied the knot in 2018, revealed last month that they were expecting their second child together.

“As a mother of two, the next chapter of my life—one that was incredibly significant—is about to begin. And are we ever so sincerely grateful and thrilled,” Moore wrote in the caption of a photo of Gus sporting a “big brother” t-shirt.

“Tour will be a little different than I had anticipated, but I can’t wait and Gus will be the BEST big brother ever!”

The Chasing Liberty actress had initially intended to tour during her second pregnancy, performing songs from her In Real Life album. Gus was born in February 2021.

She later postponed the tour due to health issues.

“I must inform you all with a heavy heart and after giving it much thought that I am canceling the remaining show dates in 2022.

It has been an honor and a complete dream to perform on stage once more for you all over the past month “Later in June, Moore posted an emotional Instagram message.

“Although I genuinely believed I could make it through, I wasn’t pregnant when we booked these shows and the way we are traveling long bus rides, and inadequate rest— has caught up with us, taken a toll, and made it feel too difficult to continue.

My family, my health, and the health of my unborn child must come first, and I am aware that the best place for me to be at this time is at home.”

In an interview with Today earlier this month, the singer of “Candy” spoke further about her choice to postpone her concert tour, which would have been her first in 15 years.

“When the bus was shaking, Gus would be standing up in his Pack N’ Play, and I would be like, “No, no, no.”

We’re out of time doing this,” “She remembered.

However, each pregnancy is unique.

I was acting like a complete shell of myself as I moved around.

I was concerned that I would negatively impact the development of my unborn child.”
